I'm so excited to be a hosting a babes and bubbly party at Ava Rae Boutique! If you want to come please let me know and I will give you the details. It will be a private party. I can't wait to shop with friends and have lots of fun!
This past weekend was so busy but so much fun. Spent Saturday by taking my first Shine Dance Fitness class. I loved it! Then went shopping with Nicolle then spent the evening with Katie and Maryanne. Sunday was spent with family and celebrating the Chinese New Year. I'm so lucky to have a mom who wants to celebrate always and makes sure family time is essential. So far this week has been chaotic between work, social obligations, and working out it always makes me thankful I live a full life. Friday night was surrounded by three friends at Rembrandts. First off if you haven't been to Rembrandt's since it's been renovated I definitely recommend it. It was beautifully renovated and has delicious food! More upscale than it used to be but it still has its cozy feel. Cool to see a place I spent growing up change but in a great way. Now on to the friends. I met Celeste, Nicole and Kayla through GCD and I'm so lucky. I have been working on friendships and finding some new ones. The three women crack up and have pushed me to grow. They also are there for me when I need a prayer or someone to cheer me up. I'm so grateful for you three...who knows maybe I will go Instagram live and film some of our adventures. It was the joke of the night about going live. Live is such a cool feature and I love how many of my friends do it I just don't know if I will ever will. Thanks for reading and hope you have a great weekend surrounded by wonderful company! Portland was amazing even if my 24-hour visit turned into 48 hours because of the weather. I started my trip a while ago by researching hotels and came across Hotel Lucia. I chose Hotel Lucia because it’s in downtown Portland so it’s conveniently located, had lots of great reviews, and the photos made it seem like the coolest hotel. It did not disappoint and I would definitely stay there again. The service was wonderful and it was connected to a restaraunt that Top Chef contestant Doug from season 12 worked at for a long time. The restaurant is called Imperial and had delicious food and drinks . They are known for Fried Chicken and I would definitely recommend it. When I go back to Portland I would stay there again. My first stop after landing and checking in was to go to Voodoo doughnuts. It was amazing but beware it is cash only. I didn’t even have to wait and the décor made me so happy. Next up was Powell’s books which was so cool and I bought so many books that I can’t wait to read. After that I finally got to see my best friend, Mariah and Taylor which was my main reason for my visit and it made my heart full to see them. First we went to Mother Bistro & Bar for brunch and it was delilicous. That was followed by a walk around Portland and later we went to dinner at Pope House Bourbon & Lounge which had amazing food. My last day was spent shopping around and at the hotel watching the Golden Globes. Lace dress and blanket scarf are from Ava Rae Boutique. I got new cards in that will give you 10 percent off your purchase. Let me know if you want one! As this week has been progressing Boise has been getting so much snow. At first I was unhappy but then I realized I'm lucky to live in a community where I see people help push cars or help them if they are stuck. As well as everyone at my work was wishing safe travels and offering rides to those who didn't feel comfortable driving. I'm also grateful for all my friends who made sure I was getting home safe and for my brother for doing the same. I want to start this year on a grateful note not an unhappy one. I'm looking around and trying to be thankful all the time not just once in a while. I'm most thankful that I'm going to Portland this weekend and get to see my best friend and her husband!
I will definitely be packing my fur vest and blanket scarf (see my Ava Rae boutique section to shop). I haven't been to Portland in so long so if you have a recommendation on something to see or do comment below. Hope everyone is having a great week! Hello loves,
My name is Rachel. I have decided as I start 2017 that I want to start a blog that combines my passion for fashion and for writing. As long as I can remember I have been obsessed with both. I remember at a young age learning about Jackie Kennedy Onassis and wanting to emulate her style. Now my three fashion icons are Blair Waldorf, Lauren Conrad, and Lana Del Rey. My style changes but at the essence of my wardrobe is feminine, fun, and chic. I will be using this blog as a way to archive my outfits with Ava Rae Boutique and my share about my life. A little about me is that I'm from Houston, Texas and I'm still a Texan at heart. I grew up in Idaho and ended up staying to go to college in Idaho. My major was history because history has been a topic I have enjoyed learning about since I was 10. That evolved in to a love of politics. I had an experience of a lifetime living in Washington D.C. after college but now I'm happy to be back in Idaho. I now work in education and my job fascinates me and allows me to constantly learn. My personal life is incredible thanks to my family and friends as well as my dog. As I mentioned I love Blair Waldorf. Well I have an adoration of her so much I named my dog after her and she's definitely my fur baby with a wardrobe of her own. My friends and family mean the world to me and I wouldn't be where I am today without them. This past year also helped me find God and a community to support me. Lastly some fun things about me! My favorite TV shows are The Office, Parks and Recreation, Gossip Girl, Friday Night Lights, and pretty much anything on Bravo or HGTV. My favorite store is Ava Rae's and my favorite brand is Kate Spade. My family knows anything from either I will constantly start wearing. Any other questions I will answer along the way. Thanks for reading and I'm so excited to start this journey! 2017 is looking good! XOXO, Rach |
